Meteor Shower VFX

My experience working with this VFX was really fun, I learned a lot whilst tweaking in the niagra systems and emitters. The thing i found myself most intruiged on was how to make the meteors spawn randomly and also have an impact on surfaces. As you can see on the videos the meteors spawn randomly up in the sky and once it collides with another surface it despawns along with an explosion VFX.

Now the thing i found hardest while working on this was actually also the collisions, there wasnt a clear way for me on how i would make it possible, since before that they kinda just went through the ground until the life time ran out. But once i got the hand on it thanks to some researching i managed to add the collisions and make it look more natural. Because of this, its probably also the reason why i found myself loving that mechanic the most in this project as well.

Lastly the reason i chose to work on this is because using this VFX it can also work as more than just an meteor shower event. Maybe a wizard shoots some fire balls using magic, then this VFX (with some tweaking on the spawn location) could be used for that. But also i wanted to work in a more stylized look too, this VFX is far from realistic and i felt like i needed the stylized experience too. Thats why i chose to work on this meteor shower with this style.
